GENERAL INFO:
I love to make art that goes home with someone who is ready to treasure it forever. Making commission art is one way that I feel I fulfill some of my own artistic purpose by bringing meaning and joy in the small, irreplaceable gift of art made for another.
I specialize in animals and creatures of all kinds, in many stylistic levels of interpretation and impression, and from anywhere on the spectrum of fantasy and spirit to more tangible reality. Nature is where all of my art seems to begin and end, and this shows even in my more abstracted and surreal pieces. What might initially sound simple can become so much more - a pet portrait that feels like them looking back to you.
All commission pieces are original artworks made in my artistic style. I am able to draw in different "tones" - a piece can be light-hearted, fun, and a bit cartoonish, or it can be more somber, thought-provoking, and realistic. I will follow my instincts to make a piece that brings together your vision and mine.
What I cannot do is replicate or imitate the style of another artist. I am always open to style experimentation, but at the end of the day, my artistic style is unique to me. That's probably why you're here!
HOW IS WORK PRICED?
My work is priced by commission type and with accessibility in mind. That being said, I do sometimes change pricing and individual pieces can be priced higher or lower depending on what is required of myself and my skill to be fairly compensated. All prices listed are base prices.
Things that might affect final pricing on a piece:
complexity of design
number of subjects
size/dimension
changes to the design*
amount of detail
* digital art pieces can be changed more easily than traditional art pieces and therefore may not incur additional charge. Requests for design approval on traditional artwork must be made known to the artist ahead of time. Extensive changes to any piece or design (if possible to make) will incur additional charge.
For traditional media, the original piece, wrapped, unframed
For digital media, a full-resolution PNG file of the final drawing, and a smaller version for internet upload if desired
Please note that original art will not come framed - framing the piece is strongly recommended!
Initial steps for commissioning are very simple:
read & familiarize with the Artist Terms of Service
email me at shannfleck@gmail.com giving as much detail about your piece as you possibly can & include visual references
hear back within 1-3 days and we discuss the piece and your vision for it
invoice & payment
work begins
Depending on the kind of piece you're commissioning, it can be anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks before artwork is finished and ready to send home. Please understand that short deadlines may not always be doable and, when possible, try to make requests at least a month in advance of holidays and/or the occasion you're hoping to have the artwork by. I want to be able to give your piece the time, attention, and creative space it deserves.
Approvals on sketches, color choice, etc. are totally possible - feel free to let me know if you'd like to check in about any parts of the piece before I work on them.
Payment is accepted in USD via PayPal or Venmo and pieces must be paid for in full before work begins. Payment plans may be considered in extenuating circumstances at the discretion of the artist (see Terms of Service).
